SOLON SPRINGS WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT

The Solon Springs Wastewater Treatment Plant consisted of expanding and constructing three new treatment ponds while maintaining the existing treatment process.

Owner: Village of Solon Springs, WI

Engineer: Ayres Associates

Contract Amount: $2.6 Million

Completion: September, 2012

  

Major Work Items:

320,000 C.Y. of earthwork

1,300,000 S.F. of PVC Liner and Geotextile Fabric

8,000 C.Y. of riprap

2,700 L.F. of buried piping and 6,200 L.F. of force main.

As well as earthwork and piping there are several large structures including equipment and controls to effectively operate and monitor the plant.

SUPERIOR – TOWER AVENUE RECONSTRUCTION

WisDOT is reconstructing approximately one mile of Tower Avenue (WIS 35) in the city of Superior - Douglas County, from Belknap to North 3rd Street.  Tower Avenue (WIS 35), is a principal artery on the National Highway System. This long truck route connects to I-535, US 53 and US 2.  This project will provide safe and efficient roadway to the motoring public, local traffic and pedestrians. The highway has not been reconstructed since 1935.

Owner/Engineer: Wisconsin DOT

Prime Contract Amount: $14 Million (Chippewa Concrete)

McCabe Contract Amount: $5 Million

Completion: October, 2013

70,000 S.Y. of concrete removal

70,000 C.Y. of excavation

Hauling and disposing of any contaminated soil

Removing 3,000 L.F. of storm sewer

Installing 10,000 L.F. of storm sewer from 12 inch to 60 inch

Removing and installing 10,000 L.F. of water main and sanitary sewer

Installing 4,000 L.F. of water service while maintaining temporary water to all residences and businesses

BULLIS FARM ROAD

Bullis Farm Road is a commercial development in Eau Claire, WI near the I94 and STH53 interchange.

 

Owner: Oakwood Business Park, LLC

Engineer: Ayres Associates

Contract Amount: $1.5 Million

Completion: October, 2011

  

Major Work Items:

25 Acres of clearing and grubbing

100,000 C.Y. of excavation

3,000 L.F. of water main and services

3,000 L.F. of sanitary sewer and services

4,000 L.F of storm sewer construction and inlets

The preparation of roadway subgrade, base course, asphaltic concrete pavement, concrete curb and gutter, concrete sidewalk, street lighting, and lawn replacement.

BUSH BROTHERS AND COMPANY

Bush Brothers and Company has been in the process of a $60 million expansion since 2009.  We have played an integral part in that expansion and continue to be an ongoing partner.  We have performed $6 million in various projects including site work excavation, all ancillary water and sewer connections and structures, excavation and backfilling of various building construction projects, building demolition, and parking lot construction.

We work closely with Bush Brothers and Company, the Engineers, and countless other contractors to continue the success of the expansion.  We play a major role in their design build projects, offering time and money saving ideas through innovative construction techniques and design changes.

UNIVERSITY STUDENT CENTER, UW EAU CLAIRE

W.R. Davies Student Center is a 170,000 square foot building on the campus of UW Eau Claire.  McCabe Construction Inc. was part of a large team of contractors completing the project on time and within budget.

McCabe Construction, Inc. has been a prime and subcontractor on numerous large field and athletic complex development projects in the last 10+ years. The most recent was in 2023 at the University of Wisconsin‐Stevens Point. The multipurpose sports complex was upgraded to include two new synthetic turf fields (one football field and one multipurpose field), new fencing, lighting, bleachers, scoreboards, and a press box. McCabe Construction’s portion of this project was $4,000,000.

UW Stevens Point.png

In 2022, the Menomonie High School Athletic Complex site improvement project was completed which consisted of site preparation, demolition, site earthwork, utility installation, electrical, and landscaping. McCabe Construction’s portion of this project was $700,000.

The Memorial High School – Ulrich Track project was completed in 2020. The work on this project consisted of replacing the existing track surface and line striping, redevelopment of the field events areas, installation of a synthetic turf curb nailer, and removal and regarding of the existing pole vault and long/triple jump areas. McCabe Construction’s portion of this project was $220,000.

In 2019, University of Wisconsin Eau Claire – Simpson Field was completed with a new turf field, lighting, a scoreboard and timing system infrastructure, and the construction of field event areas and access. McCabe Construction’s portion of this project was $1,400,000.

In 2019 and 2020, work was done on the University of Wisconsin‐Stout Nelson Soccer Field. Work on the project consisted of excavating the site to remove the field crown and to expand/resize the field area and install new subgrade and sub‐base material, storm water detention and/or drainage features, chain‐ link fencing, artificial turf surface, and new field lighting fixtures. McCabe Construction’s portion of this project was $1,700,000.

The Superior School District – Softball Athletic Field and Tennis Courts Site Redevelopment project was completed in 2016 and 2017. Site improvements included erosion control, site access/security, demolition, earthwork, landscaping, utilities, concrete flatwork, concrete curb and gutter, hot mixed asphalt pavement, fencing/gates, tennis court surfacing, restoration, athletic equipment, and synthetic turf field base materials. McCabe Construction’s portion of this project was $1,000,000

Ashland – Northland College Ponzio Stadium was done in 2015 and 2016.


Field improvements included erosion control, site access/security, demolition, earthwork, landscaping, irrigation, utilities, curb nailer, slot drain, field goal posts, athletic field equipment, concrete flatwork, hot mixed asphalt pavement, dense graded base, modular retaining walls, fencing/gates, masonry pavers and synthetic field base materials. McCabe Construction’s portion of this work was $1,200,000.

The University of Wisconsin – River Falls – Falcon Center – Phase 1 project was done in 2014 and 2015. This was a large project consisting of site work (lighted asphalt parking lot, 3 storm sewer treatment ponds, concrete, pavers, retaining walls, site restoration and landscaping), athletic field construction (approximately 110,000 square feet of subdrainage system for artificial turf surfacing at the football stadium and 2 acres of irrigated athletic turf, soccer press box and dugouts), utility work (sanitary sewer, water main, storm sewer, electrical, lighting and telecommunications work), construction of a maintenance/storage building, and football stadium press box replacement. McCabe Construction’s portion of this project was $2,500,000.
